The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

Pay close attention and you might solve this.

On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

“Things’ll get worse before they get better.”

Five strangers.

Meet on a detention room which brought them all together.

Bronwyn – the smartest girl and strives to go to Yale, Addy – the pretty girl, Nate – the dealer, Cooper – the popular athlete and the victim Simon – who creates the popular gossip app for the school and the guy who knows all Bayview High’s secret. The rest of the five lives are being turn upside down and being suspected everywhere they go. Whose the real killer of Simon?

I gotta say I like this book. I was captivated by the summary the first time I bought this book but didn’t expect much since I thought it’s just a normal teenage fiction story with some mystery plot inside. Turns out, I made a big mistake. This book is superb. I could say the plot is quite unique and the idea of the case is amazing. I enjoy the characters progress from strangers to friends who are force to bond together because of the murder. Their suspicions towards each other, their understanding and the way all of them protecting each other is worth to read.

The next thing that I love from this book is the way the writer reveal the characters secrets. It will all be something that you will never think of. The flow of the story is also good. The tension increase slowly and makes you terrified yet excited to find out what will happen next. Aside from secrets, this book has an unbelievable plot twist that can send you breathless. Prepare yourself for the little surprises and unexpected event that render you speechless.

“I know what it’s like to tell yourself a lie so often that it becomes the truth.”
